Join us for an atmospheric experience in the heart of the Argentine pampas, where vast grasslands, proud traditions, and authentic gaucho culture await just outside Buenos Aires.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken out onto the great plains that have been home to Argentina’s legendary gauchos for generations. Along the way, your guide will share insights into Argentina’s history, culture, and traditions, so you’ll sit back and relax as the bustling city streets gradually give way to open landscapes and endless greenery.
The first stop will be the historic town of San Antonio de Areco, renowned for keeping Argentina’s many traditions alive. Here, you’ll visit a local silversmith who continues the age-old craft using techniques passed down through generations. Watch as they create belt buckles, riding gear, jewellery, mate cups, and more. After this, the tour continues to a local chocolate shop, where you can indulge in some of the region’s sweet delicacies.
Your next stop is the charming Estancia El Ombú, a traditional estancia – a kind of ranch – surrounded by the vast plains of Las Pampas. You’ll be greeted by the ranch’s gauchos, the South American version of cowboys, and treated to freshly baked empanadas.
There’s also time to explore the area on your own. You can take a stroll around the estancia, relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere, or join a horseback ride or a carriage tour with some of the local gauchos.
Lunch is a classic Argentine asado, featuring an assortment of grilled meat specialities served with local side dishes. After lunch, there’s time to sit back and enjoy the views over the green plains before the garden comes alive with music and dance. You can simply watch or have a go yourself at the traditional Argentine folk dance, folklore.
Later in the afternoon, the gauchos put on a horse show, demonstrating their impressive skills and the unique bond between horse and rider. It’s a captivating insight into the gaucho lifestyle out on the plains. By late afternoon, you’ll be driven back to your hotel in Buenos Aires.
