What does our Product Manager say about Argentina?

“I think Argentina is a fantastic country to visit, whether you’re drawn to spectacular natural experiences, fascinating culture, or vibrant city life. The country is incredibly diverse, and you could spend a long time exploring its many different regions – from the wild landscapes of Patagonia and the mighty Iguazú Falls to wine regions, colourful mountain scenery, and atmospheric cities. At the same time, there’s something about the Argentine way of life, the food, and their passion for everything from tango and football to long, leisurely dinners that makes the country truly special. I absolutely love Argentina.”

Our tours in Argentina

On a tour of Argentina, you can experience vibrant city life, a rich culture, and spectacular natural wonders that will take your breath away from start to finish.

All our tours in Argentina are package holidays, with the price including flights from the UK, carefully selected accommodation, transport, and activities included in the itinerary. You can also tailor your itinerary with optional tours or experiences you arrange yourself on free days.

Several of our tours to Argentina are combination tours, giving you the opportunity to combine Argentina with Chile or Brazil. Below, you can read more about selected highlights from our tours in Argentina.

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is adorned with wide boulevards and beautiful architecture, earning it the nickname ‘Paris of South America’. As the birthplace of tango, the city is steeped in a passionate dance culture, with seductive tango steps adding an atmospheric touch to the streets.

Look forward to losing yourself in Buenos Aires’ charming neighbourhoods, such as the colourful La Boca neighbourhood, the leafy and cultural Palermo neighbourhood, known for its street art, or the lively market in the San Telmo neighbourhood. At Puerto Madero, you can soak up the atmosphere along the inviting waterfront promenade, while the Recoleta neighbourhood offers the chance to visit the cemetery where Eva Perón (Evita) is buried.

Other activities to try in Buenos Aires include, for example, a boat trip through the beautiful landscapes of the Tigre Delta or a guided cycling tour, offering a different perspective of the city from the saddle. If you would like to get closer to the city’s culture, you can also enjoy an atmospheric tango show or take part in an Argentine cooking course.

Iguazú Falls

Iguazú Falls, located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, is one of the world’s largest waterfall systems and has earned its place on the UNESCO world heritage list.

This natural wonder consists of 275 large and small waterfalls spread across 2.7 km, ranging from 60 to 82 metres in height. Enormous volumes of water thunder over the rocks and plunge into the depths with impressive force.

Iguazú Falls can be experienced from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides. On the Argentine side, you can get right up close to the falls via various trails and viewpoints, while the Brazilian side is particularly known for its spectacular panoramic views across the entire waterfall area.

Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, too. As Iguazú Falls is surrounded by species-rich rainforest, you have a good chance of spotting colourful butterflies, exotic birds, and curious coatis during your visit.

Los Glaciares National Park

Los Glaciares National Park, in southern Argentina, is one of the country’s most iconic natural wonders and is also recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The park is home to almost 250 glaciers (47 larger ones and 200 smaller ones), the most famous of which is the Perito Moreno Glacier, measuring around 30 km long and 5 km wide. On a boat trip across Lago Argentino, you’ll get remarkably close to this enormous mass of ice, which rises up to 70 metres above the lake like a towering blue giant. If you’re lucky, you may even witness the spectacular moment when huge chunks of ice break away and crash into the water.

During a hike in Los Glaciares National Park, you can also take in the dramatic mountain landscapes, with the iconic Mount Fitz Roy sure to steal the show.

Ushuaia – head to the end of the world

Beautifully surrounded by snow-capped mountains at the southern tip of Argentina, Ushuaia is one of the world’s southernmost cities and is therefore often referred to as ‘the end of the world’.

Here, you can take an exciting boat trip along the Beagle Channel, bringing you up close to the area’s beautiful scenery and spectacular wildlife. Highlights include sea lions and seabirds, and at certain times of year, whales and penguins too.

You can also stroll through the charming town centre and browse some of the small shops, or settle down at a local café on the waterfront, where you can enjoy breathtaking views across the deep-blue water.

Other highlights in Argentina

Argentina can seem wonderfully endless from north to south, and so can its experiences. You can also look forward to the following highlights:

  • Salta is a charming city of well-preserved colonial buildings and cobbled streets, surrounded by some of Argentina’s most fascinating landscapes. Visit the Humahuaca Gorge, where you can see the Mountain of Seven Colours, then continue to the Salinas Grandes salt flat, a dried-up lake more than 3,400 metres above sea level, whose dazzling white surface is broken by distinctive cracks.
  • Argentina has a winemaking tradition stretching back several hundred years. You can experience its proud wine heritage in Mendoza, which accounts for almost 70% of Argentina’s wine production, and in Cafayate, which is particularly known for its Torrontés grapes, used to make white wine.
  •  A visit to Argentina isn’t complete until you’ve sampled the Argentine cuisine. Argentina is renowned for its legendary beef, often enjoyed as ‘asado’, a special way of barbecuing the meat. If you have a sweet tooth, dulce de leche – caramel made by cooking condensed milk – is another popular treat.

Combination options

Several of our tours to Argentina can be combined with other exciting destinations in South America. You can read more about the various combination options below.

Argentina and Chile

Several of our tours combine Argentina and Chile.

On a tour to Chile, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the capital, Santiago de Chile, beautifully surrounded by the snow-capped Andes Mountains. Here, you can explore the colourful Bellavista neighbourhood and the modern Sanhattan district, home to some of South America’s tallest skyscrapers.

Depending on which tour you choose, your adventure may also take you into Chile’s magnificent natural landscapes. In Torres del Paine National Park, you can experience turquoise lakes, thundering waterfalls, and the park’s distinctive granite towers, while a catamaran cruise on Lake Todos los Santos offers views of snow-capped volcanoes and the beautiful Petrohué Waterfall.

Argentina and Brazil

It is also possible to combine Argentina and Brazil, home to some of South America’s greatest attractions.

A tour to Brazil would not be complete without a visit to one of the country’s largest cities, Rio de Janeiro. Rio is particularly famous for its spectacular carnival, beautiful beaches, and world-class football. Here, you will experience colourful samba shows, breathtaking panoramic views from Sugarloaf Mountain, and the 38-metre-high Christ the Redeemer statue, which has been named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

On the tour, you’ll also have the opportunity to experience the Brazilian side of Iguazú Falls, where, from a viewing platform, you can not only enjoy the sight of the rushing waters but may also be lucky enough to spot a variety of wildlife.
