The small town of Yulara is home to Ayers Rock Resort, bringing together the area’s hotels, restaurants, shops, and experiences in a small oasis amid the otherwise barren desert landscape.

Here you’ll find Outback Hotel & Lodge, the resort’s more informal and welcoming accommodation option. Outback Hotel & Lodge is divided into a hotel section and a lodge section. The hotel section offers comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms, while the lodge has simpler accommodation. The two sections are located side by side and share a reception area and communal facilities, including a swimming pool, bar, and places to eat.

On our tours, we only use the hotel section. Here, you’ll find 125 spacious and comfortable rooms, all with air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, a TV, a mini-fridge, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The rooms also feature colourful artwork by local artists, inspired by the nature, culture, and the distinctive landscapes of the Red Centre. Rooms are available with different bed configurations and can accommodate up to four people.

The atmosphere at Outback Hotel is relaxed and informal. The hotel’s Outback BBQ & Bar is well worth a visit in its own right and positively brims with authentic ‘Aussie’ atmosphere. Here, you can experience the classic Australian barbecue tradition by cooking your own meat on the grill. On selected evenings, live music adds to the cosy, laid-back atmosphere. If you’re after something simpler, Outback Kiosk serves burgers, pizza, and salads, while a breakfast buffet can be added at Bough House Restaurant.

After an exciting day, you can take a refreshing dip in the outdoor swimming pool or sit back with a drink at the bar. Outback Hotel & Lodge also has its own lookout point offering views of Uluru – an experience you won’t want to miss.

The reception is open 24 hours a day, and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and laundry facilities. You’ll also find a small souvenir shop where you can buy a memento of your stay in the Red Centre.

As a guest at Outback Hotel & Lodge, you also have access to the many facilities and experiences at Ayers Rock Resort. A free shuttle bus travels around Yulara approximately every 20 minutes, making it easy to reach Town Square, with its shops, supermarket, and cafés, as well as the resort’s other hotels, restaurants, and facilities.

Ayers Rock Resort works closely with Anangu communities on cultural awareness, education, and employment, among other areas. During your stay, you can take part in a range of free cultural activities and gain a deeper insight into the living culture of the Anangu people. Through the Anangu Communities Foundation, the resort also supports local initiatives in Anangu communities across central Australia, focusing on long-term development and creating new opportunities for local communities.
