Discover Brisbane on foot on an engaging guided walking tour, offering fascinating insights into the city’s history, culture, and modern-day development. Led by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll gain a vivid understanding of what makes Brisbane so unique – perfect as an introduction to the city or for anyone wishing to dig a little deeper beneath the surface.
The tour begins in the heart of Brisbane at Queen Street (you’ll need to arrange your own transport to the meeting point), where you’ll be introduced to the city’s colonial history and the impact that British arrival had on the region’s original inhabitants, the Turrbal and Jagera peoples. Along the way, you’ll gain a nuanced picture of Brisbane’s transformation – from a penal colony to a vibrant modern metropolis, now preparing to host the Olympic Games in 2032.
Together with your guide, you’ll explore both well-known attractions and hidden corners of the city. Follow the Brisbane River through the city centre with views across to South Bank Parklands, and pass through the newly developed Queen’s Wharf area. Along the route, you’ll see Brisbane City Hall, Story Bridge, Brisbane Arcade and Regent Theatre, as well as Anzac Square, Post Office Square, Burnett Lane, The Commissariat Store and the historic Frog’s Hollow district. The tour also takes you through atmospheric alleyways where colourful murals, street art and creative urban design bring out the city’s distinctive character.
The tour takes place in small groups of up to 12 participants, creating a more personal experience and offering plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way, as well as receive tips on restaurants, experiences, and hidden gems around the city.
After approximately three hours, the tour ends by the Brisbane River with views of the Story Bridge, where you can enjoy an included refreshment.
