Enjoy an atmospheric evening beneath the Australian night sky, watching the sunset over Uluru, dining in the desert, and taking a magical walk through the spectacular Field of Light art installation.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Yulara and driven into the desert to a viewing area at the top of a sand dune. Here, you can enjoy impressive views of the vast desert landscape, with Uluru on the horizon as the sun slowly sets. With a glass of Australian sparkling wine in hand and a selection of small canapés, you can savour the last light of the day.
As darkness falls, you’ll take your place at one of the large communal tables beneath the open sky. A three-course buffet inspired by Australian cuisine and the area’s bush tucker awaits, with local ingredients and flavours taking centre stage. Australian wine, beer, and soft drinks are served with dinner, while the sound of the didgeridoo completes the unique atmosphere.
Once darkness has truly settled over the desert and the stars begin to appear in the sky, a guide will introduce you to the southern night sky and point out some of the stars and constellations shining above the Red Centre.
Next, you’ll visit the Field of Light. This spectacular art installation was created by artist Bruce Munro and consists of more than 50,000 glowing glass spheres on slender stems, spread across the desert landscape. As darkness falls, they light up in changing hues, creating an almost magical sea of light in the desert.
You’ll have time to explore Field of Light independently, following the paths and experiencing the thousands of lights up close before being driven back to your hotel in Yulara.
