Enjoy an atmospheric evening beneath the Australian stars, with sunset over Uluru, dinner in the desert, and a fascinating introduction to the southern night sky.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Yulara and driven into the desert to a lookout at the top of a sand dune. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the vast desert landscape and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park as the sun slowly sets. With a glass of Australian sparkling wine in hand and a selection of canapés, you can savour the last light of the day.
As darkness falls, take your place at one of the large communal tables beneath the open sky. The first course is served at the table, after which you can explore a three-course buffet inspired by Australian cuisine and the area’s bush tucker, with local ingredients and flavours featuring on the menu. A selection of Australian wines and beers is served with dinner.
Once darkness has fully descended over the desert and the stars begin to appear, you will be introduced to the southern night sky. A guide will point out the Southern Cross and the Milky Way, as well as some of the planets, stars, and constellations visible in the clear desert sky. Far from the light pollution of the cities, the conditions are particularly well suited to observing the night sky.
After an atmospheric evening under the stars, you’ll be driven back to your hotel in Yulara.
Meeting point: You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Yulara approximately one hour before sunset. The exact time will be confirmed at your hotel’s reception.
Duration: Approximately 4 hours, including transport.
Difficulty: Easy – the tour includes a walk of approximately 300 metres to the viewing and dining area along uneven paths and soft sand. The dining area itself is also situated on sand.
Price includes: Transport to and from your hotel, canapés and sparkling wine, a three-course dinner including selected Australian wines and beer, and an introduction to the southern night sky.
Remember to bring: Good, closed-toe shoes, and practical clothing suitable for the weather. Please note that temperatures in the desert can drop considerably after sunset, so we recommend bringing warm clothing.
Please note: The minimum age is 10 years old. Dinner is served at large communal tables, with up to 10 guests at each table. The tour itinerary may be changed due to weather conditions or other circumstances beyond the organiser’s control.
The tour departs daily from April to October. From November to March, it departs every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
