Embark on a flavourful discovery of Nagoya’s unique food culture — a city that proudly stands apart from the rest of Japan thanks to its local specialities and strong culinary traditions.

Make your own way to the Sakae district, where you’ll meet your guide in front of the city’s iconic TV Tower. From here, set off on a gastronomic walking tour to some of Nagoya’s best-known eateries. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the city’s distinctive flavours, explain what makes this region so unique, and describe how its cuisine differs from traditional Japanese fare. 

The evening’s first stop is at one of the city’s most famous restaurants, which many decades ago turned the local dish Miso Nikomi Udon into a beloved classic. Here, the dish is served piping hot in an earthenware pot — thick noodles, tender chicken, and a rich broth infused with the deep, savoury flavour of miso. 

Your tour then continues to one of Japan’s oldest department stores, where in the basement you’ll explore a true food paradise brimming with local delicacies, freshly made snacks, and tempting sweet treats. Your guide will help you navigate the many delights and offer you a taste of selected favourites, while sharing stories about the origins of the dishes and their special place in Nagoya’s everyday life.

Then it’s time for a real feast when you’re served Hitsumabushi – a local favourite of grilled eel and rice. The meal itself is an experience, traditionally enjoyed in four stages, with a new flavour element added for each serving.

To round off, you’ll visit a local and relaxed eatery where you can sample Nagoya’s famous chicken wings, tebasaki. You can also end the evening with a local dessert before the rest of the night is yours to spend as you wish.
