One of the most magical things about a safari is the feeling that you are a guest in the animals’ world. When the day draws to an end, you retreat to your camp while the wildlife carries on as if nothing has happened.
Mornings on the savannah are something truly special. Perhaps the lions have been out hunting under the cover of darkness, or a large herd of buffalo has moved to new pastures. The elephants are almost always on the move, and all the nocturnal animals have been hard at work.
Breakfast with a view of the fresh, morning savannah is therefore a very special experience. The trees are still standing where they were when you went to bed last night – but everything else may have changed!
Just a short walk from Ikoma, the staff set up tables and chairs on a small rise so you can enjoy a genuine bush breakfast. The menu changes slightly from day to day, but usually includes fruit, toast, and eggs – and of course tea and coffee! All you need to do is put on your closed shoes, hang your binoculars around your neck, and follow the staff up to the viewpoint. The trail can be a little uneven, which is why you’ll be given a walking stick for extra support. The walk itself isn’t long – but to enjoy the best view, you have to climb to the very top!
