Experience local life in Ho Chi Minh City’s China town

Discover a completely different side of Ho Chi Minh City on an exciting tour through Cholon, the city’s historic Chinatown and one of the oldest and largest Chinese quarters in the world. Here, colourful markets, temples, small shops, and local specialities await.

Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel. Your first stop will be the lively Binh Tay Market, which is one of Cholon’s landmarks thanks to its distinctive Chinese-French architecture. Here, you’ll get a glimpse of everyday life as you wander among stalls filled with fruit, vegetables, spices, and all kinds of local goods.

Along the way, you’ll stop at a local coffee shop, where you can sample the popular Vietnamese iced coffee, sua da. The intense coffee is mixed with sweetened condensed milk and served over ice – a true Vietnamese classic.

You’ll then change pace and take your seat in a traditional three-wheeled cycle rickshaw. From here, you’ll experience Cholon up close as you travel through the neighbourhood’s busy streets and narrow back alleys. You’ll pass small, specialist shops selling everything from motorbike parts and Chinese herbs to religious artefacts.

You will also visit the historic Cha Tam Church and pass through some of Cholon’s oldest streets, where the Chinese heritage is still evident in the architecture, bustling trade, and atmosphere.

After an eventful tour of Cholon, a well-deserved three-course lunch awaits you at a local Vietnamese restaurant. Here, you’ll have the chance to sample specialities from Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.

You will then be driven back to your hotel.
