Bali is one of the most spectacular islands in the Indonesian archipelago, enjoying hot temperatures all year round. Despite its relatively modest size, the island offers a wealth of experiences and has all the ingredients for a perfect holiday.
The tour starts with a night in the resort town of Sanur, where you can relax after the long flight and acclimatise to the time difference before the tour begins in earnest.
The next day, you head to one of Bali’s best kept secrets in the Central Highlands – the little gem, Munduk. Munduk is known for its mild temperatures and enchanting scenery featuring mountains, vast rice fields, exotic plantations and cascading waterfalls hidden away in the dense jungle.
The lush highlands are a stark contrast to the dark volcanic beaches of Lovina in the north. Relaxation and days on your own await you here.
From Lovina, you head to Ubud with two stops along the way. The first stop is the Kintamani Highlands, where you have a fantastic view of the active volcano Batur and its crater lake of the same name. The next stop is the ancient Gunung Kawi temple complex with its ancient royal tombs carved into the rocks.
Your tour will conclude in Bali’s artistic and spiritual heart, Ubud, which is beautifully set among rice fields, temples, rivers, and lush valleys. During your stay in Ubud, you’ll witness the breathtaking rice terraces of Tegalalang, cascading down the hillsides like green carpets, and visit the sacred water temple Sebatu. You’ll also explore the village of Rumah Desa, offering a fascinating insight into the daily life of the Balinese people.
You have the option to extend your tour to include relaxation and a beach holiday, nature and wildlife experiences on the Komodo Islands or a city break in Singapore.
Today you will fly to wonderful Bali with connecting flight(s) on the way.
You land at Bali’s international airport, Ngurah Rai, in the main city of Denpasar. Upon your arrival, you go through immigration, where you receive your tourist visa and then collect your luggage. Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall, holding up a TourCompass sign, and you will immediately sense the warmth of the Balinese hospitality.
Together with your guide, you will be driven to your hotel in Sanur. After check-in, the day is yours to do as you please, allowing you to relax after the long flight and acclimatise to the time difference before tomorrow’s itinerary kicks off in earnest.
After breakfast and check-out, you will be driven to the scenic mountain village of Munduk. On the way, you will visit one of Bali’s most photographed temples, the beautiful Ulun Danu. The temple is located on a small island in Lake Bratan, which is so clear that it makes the temple look like it is floating. The lake is located at an altitude of 1,200 metres and is surrounded by high mountains. The area can therefore be chilly and misty in, giving everything an almost mysterious feel. Go for a walk along the shores of the lake and enjoy the sight, the view and the reflections in the lake.
You will then continue to Munduk, one of Bali’s best kept secrets. On your arrival at the hotel in Munduk, the rest of the day is yours to relax, go for a walk and just enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Munduk is a peaceful little village located in the temperate Balinese highlands, roughly 1,000 metres above sea level. It is surrounded by green rice fields, cascading waterfalls and dense jungle. The area also offers a lot of great walks and stunning vantage points from which you can enjoy the landscape and the surrounding mountains.
Besides its beauty, Munduk is known for growing coffee, cocoa, vanilla, fruit and vegetables. In fact, the area supplies more fresh fruit and vegetables than anywhere else in Bali, due, among other things, to the temperate climate and the incredibly fertile soil.
There are many good restaurants in the area serving local, organic produce.
You wake up to fresh mountain air and an outstanding view. After breakfast, you’ll be going on a scenic 2-hour hike in the area around the hotel. The terrain is relatively flat, but there are places on the route where it goes up and down.
The hike takes you past scenic coffee plantations, avocado trees as well as cocoa, vanilla and clove plants. A path leads you down through the dense jungle to the 20-metre-high Red Coral waterfall. Please note that some of the way down to the waterfall is steep and therefore not suitable for people who have difficulty walking. If you don’t want to walk down to the waterfall, you can stay up at the top and enjoy the scenic surroundings and the many beautiful plants, which are labelled with their names.
On the way back to the hotel, you will pass beautiful spice gardens and scenic, green rice fields.
The rest of the day is yours to do as you please.
After a delicious breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel, where your guide and driver will be ready to take you to the peaceful coastal area of Lovina, on Bali’s northern shore. The drive takes about an hour.
Once you arrive in Lovina, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish.
Lovina is famous for its long beaches of dark, glistening volcanic sand and gentle waves. Many also associate Lovina with dolphin safaris, but we have chosen not to offer this activity, as it does not align with our animal welfare policy. You can read more about our policy here.
In the evening, you can watch the sun dip beneath the horizon from the beach, as the sky is painted with red, orange, and violet shades. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful sight!
Today, you’re free to enjoy Lovina as you wish. Take a stroll into Kalibukbuk, Lovina’s charming little town centre, with its inviting restaurants, cafés, and small shops. Settle in with a freshly squeezed juice or a local dish and soak up the laid-back atmosphere that defines northern Bali.
If you’d like to explore the area a little further, you can take a trip to Singaraja, Lovina’s neighbouring town and Bali’s former capital. Here, you’ll catch a glimpse of the island’s colonial past in the elegant old Dutch buildings and broad, tree-lined avenues. The city is peaceful and unspoilt by crowds of other travellers, so you’ll enjoy an authentic taste of everyday life on Bali.

After breakfast and check-out, you and your guide and driver will head to the artisan town of Ubud in central Bali.
We’ve included three picturesque and exciting visits en route. The first stop is Beji Temple in the village of Sangsit. Only a handful of tourists find their way to the temple, so it’s lovely and peaceful here. Dating back to the 15th century, the temple is dedicated to the fertility goddess Dewi Sri, who ensured a good harvest. The fine detailed wood carvings and the impressive craftsmanship will almost take your breath away.
Next stop is the vantage point in the Kintamani Highlands, from which you enjoy a fabulous view of the active Batur volcano and its crater lake of the same name.
Before reaching Ubud, you will visit the Gunung Kawi temple complex, an often overlooked attraction. Built in the late 11th century, Gunung Kawi is one of Bali’s oldest temples. Gunung Kawi is set in a lush valley surrounded by jungle, and stairs take you past magnificent rice terraces and tall coconut palms down to the temple itself. The Pekerisan River, which has religious significance for Balinese Hindus, flows alongside the temple. Water passing through a sanctuary is said to be transformed into holy water. When you get to the river, a small stone bridge leads you across to the main attraction of the temple: the ancient royal tombs carved into the rocks. Here, you have time to walk around and enjoy the ancient, serene site.
The last stop of the day is the hotel in Ubud, and after check-in, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please.
Ubud is scenically situated in the central highlands, where the lush, green mountains are interspersed by deep valleys, which are almost canyon-like in some places. Through the middle of the green jungle flows the Ayung River, which is a popular place to river raft, and behind the small settlements are fine temples and beautiful rice fields.
Ubud is also known as the artistic heart of Bali, to which both local and international artists and craftsmen have found their way. Art and craft exhibitions and galleries line the streets alongside small shops selling bags, jewellery and clothing.
There are often ceremonial processions in the temples and streets, which are a fun and evocative experience. The Balinese are dressed in their traditional costumes, and lining the pavements are small baskets woven from banana leaves containing offerings and incense sticks to protect against evil.
Along Ubud’s main street, you will find many good restaurants and cosy cafés.
Today brings an exciting and scenic tour around Ubud.
You’ll be picked up at your hotel by your guide and driver, and the adventure begins with a visit to the renowned rice terraces of Tegalalang, one of Bali’s most iconic sights. Here, the lush green rice fields ripple down the steep hillsides like a living tapestry, and delicate irrigation channels meander through the terraces – a centuries-old subak system that’s deeply woven into Bali’s cultural heritage. From the viewpoints, you may be lucky enough to see local farmers tending to their crops, and you can snap spectacular photos of this breathtaking setting – one of the most photographed scenes on the island.
The journey will then continue to Sebatu Temple, also known as Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu, considered one of the most serene and spiritual temples in Bali. Nestled in the lush jungle, the temple is built around a crystal-clear spring believed to possess healing powers. Here, you can take part in a traditional Balinese water purification ceremony, where the sacred spring water symbolises the cleansing of both the body and mind. Your guide will explain the meaning behind these rituals and show you how the locals step down into the cool pools, offer up a quiet prayer, and allow the water to wash over them—leaving you with an unmistakable sense of calm and contemplation.
You will then be driven back to your hotel, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Today, you’ll gain an excellent insight into the Balinese culture and traditions in the small village of Rumah Desa, located 35 km north-west of Ubud. You will have the opportunity to participate in some of the daily activities that take place in the village.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from the hotel and driven to the village of Rumah Desa, where you’ll be met by a local host who will show you around. You’ll see and hear how the families live, cook, build houses and farm, and if you’re game, you’ll have the chance to participate in the activities yourself. There will also be a walk through the village, taking in its small houses, temples, the local school and a beautiful landscape with exotic plants and trees. You will also pass the stunning green rice fields, where you’ll see the farmers at work with their water buffaloes, and observe how the coconut palms are climbed and how the coconut oil is extracted.
Back at the village, a lovely Balinese lunch will be served. You will then head back to Ubud, where you arrive mid-afternoon and have the rest of the day to yourself.

In the evening when darkness falls, you can visit one of Ubud’s many great restaurants and round off with a drink or a cup of coffee at one of the cosy bars or cafés.
Today, the time has come to say goodbye to the Island of the Gods. After breakfast and check-out, you will be picked up by your guide and driver and driven to the airport in Denpasar. From here, you will fly back to Europe, with connecting flight(s) on the way.

Komodo Island is home to the great Komodo dragons. The Komodo dragon is the largest living species of lizard in the world. It can grow up to three metres long and weigh up to 165 kg. Despite its huge size, it can move at speeds of up to 20 km/h – and it is carnivorous with an aggressive and pretty brutal hunting technique. And yet a visit to the monitor lizards is on the wish list of many travellers. It’s not every day you get see the world’s largest lizard, which has survived here on the island for some 10 million years! Besides the Komodo dragons, you can also see buffaloes, wild boar, wild deer, macaques, and beautiful birds, not to mention a landscape that is both scenic and rugged. The water is crystal clear; the seas full of brightly coloured fish and corals. Designated as a national park, Komodo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you wish to conclude your holiday with a stay on a paradise island, then Gili Trawangan is an excellent choice.
Gili Trawangan, also known as Gili T, is one of the three Gili islands – and the most popular. Gili Trawangan has become especially popular due to great opportunities it offers for scuba diving and snorkelling in the sea around the island. See sea turtles, colourful fish and perhaps even a reef shark. The island is also known for its lovely beaches, which invite pure, unadulterated relaxation. Lie yourself down on a sun lounger and soak up the warm rays of the sun, or enjoy a drink in one of the many beanbags in the shade of a coconut palm.
During the day, the atmosphere is relaxed, with things livening up in the evening at the numerous small restaurants and bars. Nusa Lembongan is a small, tropical paradise island of just 8 km² and just 45 minutes from Bali by sea. Here you can bring down the pace and just enjoy the golden sandy beaches, the crystal-clear water, swaying palm trees and wild nature with cactuses and rock formations. The island is also known for its great snorkelling and diving opportunities. There are only a few cars on the small island, so getting around by bicycle is the easiest.
The majority of the north-eastern section of the island is covered in mangrove, which serves an important role in the ecosystem of the area and helps give life to the many corals. You can go on a quiet boat ride through the mangroves in either a kayak or a small boat.
Many of the island’s inhabitants sustain themselves by growing seaweed. When the tides go out, the seaweed fields appear, and you will see farmers stream out to pick it.
