Join us for an atmospheric afternoon tour as you discover Seoul’s historic soul and vibrant everyday life on a city walk through magnificent palaces, traditional neighbourhoods, and lively food markets.

Make your own way to Gyeongbokgung Palace Station, where you’ll meet today’s guide. From here, the tour will take you behind the historic walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace. The palace is the largest of Seoul’s five royal palaces and was built during the Joseon dynasty. Among the impressive gates, open courtyards, and brightly coloured wooden buildings, you’ll gain an insight into Korea’s royal history, the palace’s architecture, and the ceremonies that took place here over the centuries.

Next, the tour then continues to Bukchon Hanok Village, where narrow streets wind between traditional Korean hanok houses. Dark wooden beams, curved tiled roofs, and intricately crafted details create a unique atmosphere, while your guide tells you about Korea’s housing traditions and life in the neighbourhood before and after Seoul’s great transformation. From the small alleyways, you can also catch glimpses of the city’s modern skyline rising behind the historic rooftops.

Today’s next stop is Gwangjang Market, one of Seoul’s oldest and most popular food markets. The air is filled with the aromas of steaming, fried, and grilled dishes, as local vendors prepare the food right in front of you. You’ll have the chance to sample a variety of Korean street food specialities, perhaps a hot bindaetteok, freshly made gimbap, or spicy tteokbokki. The market hums with conversation, clinking bowls, and locals meeting up for a quick meal.

From the market, the tour continues along Cheonggyecheon, the tranquil stream that runs through the heart of Seoul. Here, you can slow down and enjoy a relaxing stroll beside the water while your guide tells you about the area’s transformation from a historic waterway into a green oasis in the middle of the city. The clear water, small bridges, and high-rise buildings surrounding you create a striking contrast between Seoul’s historic roots and its modern energy.

The tour will end in central Seoul, where your guide will be happy to offer suggestions for places to eat or ideas for further independent exploration.
