A tour to Australia always promises unforgettable experiences, both big and small. Below, Product Manager Christina shares one of her most memorable experiences from her visit to Australia in May 2026.

Some experiences stay with you long after you’ve returned home. For me, the walk from Coogee to Bondi is one of them. On a sunny day in May, my colleague and I laced up our walking boots and set off towards one of Sydney’s most beautiful coastal walks.
We started the day with a short train and bus journey from our hotel in Sydney. Getting to Coogee Beach, where the walk begins, was both quick and easy. Of course, you can walk the route in either direction, but we wanted to finish at Bondi Beach. As soon as we stepped off the bus, we knew it was going to be a good day. The sun shone from a cloudless sky, the temperature was pleasant, and the sea shimmered in the most beautiful shades of blue. In short, the perfect conditions for a day along the coast.

From Coogee, follow the well-maintained coastal path north towards Bondi Beach. According to my fitness watch, the walk ended up being around seven kilometres long, including the short detours to the viewpoints. The route is easy to walk and doesn’t require any special hiking skills, although there are hills and steps along the way, following the undulating coastal landscape. So make sure you wear a pair of good walking shoes.

This is one of those walks where you’re constantly rewarded with new views. One bay gives way to the next as waves crash against the golden sandstone cliffs. Along the way, we passed the small, idyllic Gordons Bay, the lovely Clovelly Beach, and the popular Bronte Beach, where many people had settled on the grass or taken a dip in the sea. Further on, Tamarama Beach awaited us – a small beach surrounded by dramatic cliffs – before the final stretch led us to the famous Bondi Beach.
If you have your swimwear in your rucksack, there are plenty of opportunities to take a dip in the sea along the way. At several of the beaches, you’ll find toilets, changing facilities, and outdoor showers, as well as drinking water stations at various points along the route where you can refill your water bottle. This makes it easy to combine the walk with short breaks and a swim.

We did the walk just before whale season got properly underway. From May to November, humpback whales pass Sydney’s coast on their annual migration, and although we were unfortunately a little too early, we could easily imagine how incredible it must be to stand on the cliffs, scanning the horizon for these impressive marine mammals. We had to make do with the view of the endless ocean, which was certainly no bad substitute.

Once we arrived at Bondi Beach, we found a lovely café where we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch overlooking the surfers tackling the waves. And when you’re already standing on one of the world’s most famous beaches in glorious weather, it almost goes without saying – we ended the day with a refreshing dip before heading back to our hotel in Sydney.

It’s hard not to be enchanted by the Coogee-Bondi Walk. The route combines spectacular coastal scenery, laid-back Australian beach life, and plenty of lovely places to stop along the way.
I can’t recommend it highly enough! If you’re visiting Sydney, don’t miss out on this fantastic coastal walk. Without a doubt, it’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after you’ve returned home.
