Upon arrival in South Africa, our local partner will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel. You will spend one night in Johannesburg before your adventures truly begin tomorrow.
After breakfast, you will leave Johannesburg. You will be picked up at your hotel and head north-west towards the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. The drive takes approximately three hours.
Located just over 200 km north-west of Johannesburg, the Pilanesberg Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s largest and most popular safari areas. Its easy accessibility from Johannesburg, combined with the fact that it is malaria-free, makes the park an ideal safari destination for safari enthusiasts of all ages.

Over the next few days, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the reserve at your own pace. No two days are the same when you’re on safari. Every game drive brings new opportunities for exciting experiences.
Pilanesberg lies in a transitional zone between the desert landscapes of the Kalahari to the west and the more tree- and shrub-dominated savannah landscapes to the east. It consists of open grasslands, shrubland, woodland, and waterholes. As the landscape was also formed by volcanic activity around 1.2 billion years ago, it features varied terrain with hills, valleys, rocky areas, and different soil types. Together, these create a wide range of habitats for animals and plants that are often not found in the same place. Impalas, kudus, zebras, hyenas, wildebeest, and giraffes – they’re all here, along with, of course, the Big Five. Birdwatchers won’t be disappointed either, with more than 360 recorded species to spot.
Your stay in Pilanesberg includes one daily game drive, which you can take either in the morning or afternoon. For the rest of the day, you can enjoy the lodge’s many facilities or book additional game drives or other excursions.
It’s time to say goodbye to the bush. You’ll be picked up at your hotel and driven to Johannesburg, where you’ll spend one night before continuing your tour to Mauritius tomorrow.
